“We Ask Because We Care” Campaigns on Collecting Patient Data
Our conversation with Lisa Sloane, founder and CEO of More Inclusive Healthcare, and Tamara Migut, Director of Quality Improvement at Health Alliance Medical Plans, provides a rich opportunity to look at how collecting data on race, gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity pose unique challenges for health systems and how to craft a strategy that supports staff adoption and patient engagement. As an innovator and entrepreneur, Lisa Sloane shares her experience with working in partnership with different health systems to support their efforts to collect patient data. Tamara is responsible for the Health Alliance Medical Plans Quality Improvement Initiative, focusing on meeting new reporting requirements from the National Committee for Quality Assurance that links health inequities with HEDIS measures and outcomes.

Founder and CEO of More Inclusive Healthcare
Lisa's career is defined by walking shoulder to shoulder with healthcare professionals on a journey toward health equity. This spirit of collaboration, combined with her passion for problem-solving, led her to build the company More Inclusive Healthcare (MIH). Since 2014, the MIH team has developed training, education, and other products designed to accelerate the use of data to identify and resolve health disparities.
Lisa obtained a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the Health Services Management and Policy (HSMP) Program, College of Public Health at The Ohio State University. She serves the College as Adjunct Assistant Professor where she advises on various Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics for the HSMP program, teaches class sessions and supports the alumni society.

Tamara Migut
Director of Quality Management for Health Alliance
Tamara is the director of Quality Management for Health Alliance, a subsidiary of Carle Health. Carle, a vertically integrated health system, encompasses hospitals, physicians, outpatient and wellness divisions, as well as health plans. She has been in her role since 2019. She has oversight of the Health Alliance quality improvement program, HEDIS data collection and reporting, and member/provider resolutions. She brings over 23 years of experience in the healthcare field at Carle Health with focus on patient/member experience, data collection and analytics, and process improvement.
In addition to her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy, Tamara is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality through the Healthcare Quality Certification Commission.
